UX competence center

Going from zero to a team of 5

4 years ago we were asked to create a UX competence center at AG Insurance. Our mission was to create a consistent and engaging experience for our users. In order to get there we developed an UX engineering process of which the following 2 elements are part of.

Web and app style guide
Your sites and apps can only be truly recognizable if you always use the same colours, fonts and UI controls. We therefore developed a style guide that was translated by the IT guys into a development template and is used by external companies to develop sites/apps for AG.

UX patterns
Unless there is a good reason to deviate, we shall always use the same style wizard, pop-up, birth date entry field, calendar control,...
Each of these templates have been documented.

What do my colleagues have to say about me?

Stijn De Ruysscher

Head of Digital Experience

I had the pleasure to work with Kris for many years as a UX consultant. Next to a great colleague to have in the team, Kris' analytical insights, strong methodological approach and his capacity to deliver are beyond compare. We're sad to see you go Kris!

Francis De Block

Parli italiano?

I love to speak your language so I can fully understand your needs

Dutch

Native speaker

I do sometimes have trouble hiding my dialect :) (Hèists)

English

Fluent (level: C1)

13 years of work experience.

French

Fluent (level: B2)

I have worked 10 years in Brussels. At Fluxys, Eni and AG there was plenty of people to practice with.

Italian

Good (level: B1)

Love and the incapacity of Italians to speak foreign languages forced me to learn it. Then I fell in love with it.

Tools I know how to handle

Let's start with UX/Design tools first

I have 4 years experience with it. I use it for wireframing and prototyping. Here some examples of what I made: Wearables (contact me to get the password), AG Health prototype, Ambucare responsive wireframes (psst: the password is "proto")

Good platforms to collaborate with designers and share designs specs in- and outside the company.

And here again, they getting a lot of competition from Adobe XD.

XD is in the process of becoming the all-in-one wireframing/designing and prototyping tool but hasn't got the full package of feature for prototyping that Axure offers.

My favourite tools still are pen and paper. The Pilot Frixion pen is my weapon of choice.
And nothing beats the whiteboard if you're discussing wireframes with more than 2 people.

There's more to life than UX

I love traveling, electronic music, cars and skiing. But there is one big passion in my life and that is cycling. And yes, even there I use technology. Go ahead and check out my profile on: Strava and perhaps we meet on Zwift
